Are they kidding? Burda joke trousers or (thks Val!) Poodle Pants!

Here I was, thinking that Burda was on a really beautiful roll, with their lace tea dresses, military jackets and the Travel Cape for the Terrorized by Security at Airport, when they give us these flounced skinnies in the full preview of their August edition. I wouldn't leave the house in these, but maybe I'm missing something here? Are they all the rage in Polish clubs? German Soccer Mom gabfests? English Yummy Mummy school runs?
I will send a free copy of A Visit From Voltaire to the first gal who makes these. Promise. (And yes, I mean the trousers on the left, not the right. No cheating. And I'll make a gender exception for Male Patttern Boldness.)

The velvet kimono is cut out and interfaced...

  1. Hilarious. The funniest thing is it's a rip-off from Prada (or was it Miu-Miu? Miuccia Prada anyway) from a few seasons ago. I wonder if they actually sold some of these tulip pants...

  2. Carlotta, can you please link us to the originals? I knew there must be an explanation. Reveal all, piacere, cara!

  3. Boggle! But then it wouldn't be Burda without a bit of glorious weirdness. I already have A Visit From Voltaire so there's no temptation to make these! Didn't Nigella Lawson wear something similar a few years ago in tight black satin, to great delight of the tabloids? Can't remember the designer's name though.

You have a copy? Then I should be sewing you a pair!

  5. Yes, Yes! Poodle Pants! I've re-titled the blog in your honour, Val, and for a photo of poodle pants worn in the company of sailors, I'll donate enough copies for an entire book club!
Somehow I think this is one giveaway that isn't going too see the light of sewing machine...as you say, oh, dear.

  6. Wait -- those poodle pants have possibilities -- and they hide ugly toes.

  7. Oh, I think His Boldness' cousin Cathy could rock the poodle pants.
